Every year, tire manufacturers around the world produce billions of tires. During the production process, the cleaning of tire molds is fast and reliable to save downtime. Traditional cleaning methods include sandblasting, ultrasonic waves or carbon dioxide cleaning. However, laser cleaning machines have advantages that traditional cleaning methods cannot match. With the continuous improvement of technology and the batch production of equipment, laser cleaning technology plays an important role in the cleaning industry. Using laser cleaning, because the laser can be transmitted through optical fibers, it is very flexible to use; because the laser cleaning method can be connected through optical fibers to guide the light to the corners or difficult-to-clean parts of the mold for cleaning, it is very convenient to use; it does not vaporize, so it will not produce toxic gases that affect the working environment. Laser cleaning technology for tire molds has been widely applied in the tire industry in Europe and America. Although the initial investment cost is high, the benefits gained from saving standby time, avoiding mold damage, production, and saving raw materials can be quickly recovered.

The cleaning methods of the laser cleaning machine mainly include four types:

① Laser dry cleaning method involves using pulsed laser to directly irradiate and remove stains.

② The laser + liquid film method involves first depositing a layer of liquid film on the surface of the substrate, and then using laser radiation to remove the impurities.

③ The laser + inert gas method involves irradiating the substrate with laser while blowing inert gas onto the surface. Once the contaminants are removed from the surface, they will be immediately blown off by the gas to prevent further contamination and oxidation of the surface.

④ After using laser to loosen the dirt, it is then cleaned with non-corrosive chemical methods.

The most commonly used methods are the first three. The fourth method is only employed in the cleaning of stone cultural relics.
